The Alpine County Unified School District is quite simply one of the most quaint districts in the state. There are a total of 126 students enrolled from grades K-12 and yet there are 6 fully functional schools in the district. It has 3 elementary schools, 1 middle school and 2 high schools. 

 

The Alpine County Unified School District has a remarkable reputation and its largest school, Diamond Valley, has received the California Distinguished School award three times in a row. Its Bear Valley Elementary school is an actual one room elementary school house.
