The Peoria Unified School District is located on W Thunderbird Rd, in Glendale Arizona, in Maricopa County. Peoria Unified School District is situated in one of the fastest growing cities in the US and is the third largest of the twelve unified school districts in Arizona. Peoria Unified School District has a vision: “ Every student, every day, prepared to meet tomorrow.” Further, the Peoria Unified School District takes pride in providing students with a quality education. Their goal is to provide an education that encompasses the knowledge and skills needed for students to become lifelong learners and high-quality citizens.
There are 29 elementary schools and 6 high schools in the Peoria Unified School District. There are at least 1900 full time teachers. In recent school years, 13 of the schools in the Peoria Unified School District have received high performance ratings. Two of the elementary schools, Oakland Elementary and Copperwood Elementary have been rated as ‘excelling’.
The Peoria Unified School District has many departments. Some support service departments are: Food & Nutrition, Health, Maintenance and Transportation. There are 17 Kindergarten to grade 12 departments. They come under such headings as education, curriculum, arts education, and athletics. The Peoria Unified School District has a special division called Growth in the Peoria School District. This division deals with the increasing need to keep up with the growth in the area. It works to keep parents and others in the community informed about any scheduled new school openings.
